Introduction


The training instructions are prepared to train the user on the proper use of the equipment and enable the operator to know the principles, useage, precautions, etc of the equipment, enabling the equipment to achieve the best operating results and the longest life in the course of manipulation. So, please be sure to carefully read the training instructions before the installation and use of the unit.

Non-drinking water system

The design capacity of this system is to produce 5000L of non-drinking water for an hour at normal temperatures. The use of this system aims to treat impurities-laden raw water into the clear and transparent water used for bathing, laundry and toilet.

This system equipment mainly consists of the following devices:

Raw water supply pump

Model: 40BZ10-20 Flowrate: 10m3 / h Head: 20m Power: 1.5Kw / 380V.

The raw water booster pump is controlled by level switches LS1 and LS2. When level switch LS1 is at low level, the raw water booster pump will automatically stop running; when level switch LS1 is at high level, the raw water booster pump automatically will start running, until L1 is at low level again. When level switch LS2 is at high level, the raw water booster pump will stop.

    Biocide dosing system

   The dosing pump uses NEWDOSE precision metering & dosing pump, with the dosing tank capacity of 40L. The dosing system uses shock disinfection mode, and is set to be opened once every three days, and for three hours every time.

Fully automatic multi-media filter

With a diameter of 1m, the filter is made of anticorrosive carbon steel, and uses high-quality quartz sand as filter media for the contact filtration of raw water at a reasonable level. The filter head gap of 0.2mm under the supporting layer helps to fully prevent media from leaking to the next process. The design filtration rate is 8m / h.

The suspended solids and colloidal silica in a reasonable graded quartz sand filter layer are trapped by the filter layer through collision and adsorption with the filter media, thereby achieving the purpose of removing impurities from suspended solids.

After running for some time, filter resistance increases due to the increase in closure of impurities. In order to prevent the impurities from penetrating filter layer, backwash is necessary to restore the performance of multi-media filter. So the control section uses automatic control valves.

Filter media loaded: quartz sand: Bulk density 1.88; particle size: 2.5-4.5; layer height: 300mm

Quartz sand: Bulk density 1.72; particle size: 0.5-0.7 layer height: 900mm

Rated treated water capacity: 6m3 / h; working pressure: 0.3MPa;

As the first filtering device before raw water enters the membrane, the multi-media filter effectively removes suspended solids and other impurities from the raw water, thereby effectively protecting UF membrane from more or less contamination.

Filter media shall undergo regular wash and backwash, using automatic cleaning mode. Wash shall be performed regularly. Otherwise, it will cause damage to UF membrane. The operator usually needs to: a. keep inlet water at sufficient pressure and flowrate; b. ensure that the equipment is always in power state; c. ensure proper valve switching state when cleaning.

Working states of multi-media filter:

Run: V1 and V5 are open, and other valves are closed.

Backwash: V2, V3 and V6 are open, and other valves are closed.

Wash: V1 and V4 are open, and other valves are closed.

The equipment is set to be cleaned once a week, including 10 minutes of backwash and 10 minutes of wash, and run twice a week.


UF water purifier

UF, a screening process adopting membrane separation technique, uses the pressure differential across the membrane as driving force, and uses the hollow fiber UF membrane as filter media. Under a certain pressure, when the original liquid flows through the membrane surface, many tiny pores with the size of 0.1 micron or less over the surface of UF membrane allow only water and small molecules to pass to become permeated liquid, and the impurities with the volume of greater than those of tiny pores over the membrane surface are trapped into the liquid inlet side of the membrane from raw water to become concentrated liquid, thus achieving the purpose of purifying raw water.

There are about 6 billiontiny pores with the size of 0.1 micron or less on the wall of 1-meter-longUF membrane fiber pipe, so colloid, rust, suspended solids, silt, organic molecules, etc can be trapped from water by UF membrane, thereby completing a water purification process.

Through concentrated liquid discharge and fast wash, UF membrane can be continuously used for a long term.

UF quick flush valve can be automatically opened for 30 seconds of quick wash immediately after raw water booster pump has operated for 30 minutes.

Non-drinking water supply pump

Model: CHL4-40 Flowrate: 4m3 / h Head: 35m Power: 0.75Kw / 380V.

Non-drinking water supply pump is controlled by the pressure of water supply pipeline. When the pipeline pressure reaches the setpoint of pressure switch, the pump will automatically stop water supply; when the pipeline pressure drops below the return difference value of pressure switch, non-drinking water supply pump will automatically start water supply.

Drinking water supply system

The design capacity of this system is to produce 500L of water per hour at normal temperatures. If the raw water temperature is above or below this temperature during the actual operation of this system, a certain degree of change will be caused to the production capacity. Treated non-drinking water shall be used as a source of water. Of course, the changes in other conditions of raw water may also affect the water quality and capacity of the product, which are set forth in the next relevant sections and the functional description.

This system equipment mainly consists of the following devices:

Supply pump

Model: CHL2-30 Flowrate: 2m3 / h Head: 30m Power: 0.55Kw / 380V.

Supply pump supplies water for the RO water purification equipment.

Activated carbon filter

Activated carbon filter uses activated carbons as filter media for further adsorption and filtration of inlet water at a reasonable level. The housing is made of stainless steel. The filter head gap of 0.2mm under the supporting layer helps to fully prevent media from leaking to the next process.

Residual chlorine, organics and colloidal particles as well as color, odor, etc in the activated carbon filter layer at a reasonable level are trapped by the filter layer through collision and adsorption with the filter media, so as to achieve the purpose of removing impurities and some organics and oxides. This protects the desalination rate and water discharge of RO membrane from dropping due to residual chlorine oxidation or organic contamination. The design filtration rate is 10m / h.

After running for some time, filter resistance increases due to the increase in entrapped impurities. In order to prevent the impurities from penetrating filter layer, backwash is necessary to restore the performance of activated carbon filter. The design backwash strength is 12L/m2.s. Therefore, the control section uses automatic time controller.

Filter media shall undergo regular wash and backwash, using automatic cleaning mode. Wash shall be performed regularly. Otherwise, it will cause damage to RO membrane.The operator usually needs to: a. keep inlet water at sufficient pressure and flowrate; b. ensure that the equipment is always in power state; c. ensure that the time displayed by automatic controller is consistent with the local time; for the time adjustment, refer to the controller manual; if power outage lasts for more than three days after the first consistency adjustment, re-adjustment is necessary.

RO unit

Semi-permeable spiral wound-type membrane is used for separating and removing soluble solids, organics, colloids and bacteria from water. Raw water is supplied into and through the RO membrane at a constant pressure, and then is collected via the tiny pores on the membrane, so that pure water can be obtained. The impurities from the water are concentrated in the closure liquid and then are discharged. RO membrane can remove more than 97% of dissolved solids, more than 99% of organics and colloids and almost 100% of bacteria from raw water.

As one of the most advanced pure water preparing equipment among the water treatment equipment in the world at present, RO equipment has become the preferred water preparing equipment due to its low operating cost, affordable access, easy operation and reliable running.

Introduction to RO System


I.Cartridge filter housing and filter element (blue shell)

As the final filtration device before the raw water enters the membrane, cartridge filter housing can achieve the effective removal of the substances with the size of greater than 5μm that can not be removed by the pre-treatment system, as well as the closure of the media leaked in the process of pre-treatment, such as activated carbon powder, thereby effectively protecting the RO membrane from being contaminated or less contaminated.

The filter element shall be regularly washed, and be replaced in case of failure to reach normal conditions of use after wash. During installation, the filter element shall be vertically centered; otherwise, it will damage the filter element, or even result in the loss of filtration.

The cartridge filter housing used for this system is model YS1-20, equipped with two 508mm-5μm filter elements.

II. High-pressure pump

The system uses vertical multistage centrifugal pump, an important device of RO unit, which plays a role of transporting a certain amount of RO membranes and a certain pressure of water source. During the use, it shall be ensured that the operating direction is correct, the air is exhausted regularly according to requirements and the electrical section is dry, without idling or long-term overload operation.

III. RO membrane shell

RO membrane shell uses a total of two SS4040 stainless steel shells with one core and four membranes. During the installation of end cover, a layer of Vaseline shall be coated on the rubber seal ring of the end cover, for easy removal and better tightness. The seal ring shall be protected from damage during repair. If damaged, the seal ring shall be replaced.

IV. RO membrane

As a key device of RO unit, RO membrane plays a decisive role in the improvement in the water production capacity and quality of the equipment. This system uses a total of two RO membranes.

V. Program controller

Its main function is to complete the operation monitoring and status control of RO system, in order to achieve the unmanned self-controlled operations of the RO equipment (such as undervoltage shutdown of high-pressure pump, timed automatic washing of RO membrane, full stop of pure water tank, etc.)

VI. Fast solenoid valve for RO membrane

Its main function is to be regularly opened to allow a large flow of concentrated water to flow, reducing the pressure inside the membrane tube and increasing the flow rate inside the membrane tube to reach the purpose of washing the membrane surface, which is an important part of the RO unit. The specification is DN20 solenoid valve. The washing interval of solenoid valve is set to 30 seconds of automatic washing every 3 hours.

VII. Pure water flowmeter and concentrated water fl0wmeter

Its role is to measure the flow rates of pure water and concentrated water. Both ranges are 5GPM. These flowmeters help to clearly grasp the water production capacity and concentrated water flowrate of the equipment at the time, clearly observe the running state of the equipment, and visually see the ratio of pure water to concentrated water, in order to facilitate the adjustment of system status in accordance with required ratio and capacity.

VIII. Pump front pressure gauge (0 ~ 1.0 MPa) and membrane front pressure gauge (0 ~ 3.0 MPa)

Pump front pressure gauge displays the water pressure when the raw water enters the RO unit.

Membrane front pressure gauge displays the water pressure when the raw water enters the membrane. When the pressure drop increases to 15% of the initial value, clean the membrane, or contact us.

IX. Program control instrument

Its main function is tocomplete the automatic operation control of the entire RO unit, ensuring the safe and stable runningof the RO equipment andenabling unattended operation.

X. Pressure switch

Pressure switch is a safety device that controls the running or stop of the unit at the water pressure value set according to the technical requirements of the system. The pressure switch of the system contains low-voltage switch. The function of low-voltage switch is to provide excessive low water level protection for high-pressure pump. When the system pressure falls below the set pressure, high-pressure pump will automatically stop.





Operation Instructions


Note: Before starting the equipment, please ensure that raw water complies with the parameters described in "Technical Parameters" section; otherwise, it will cause permanent unrecoverable damage to the RO membrane.

Manual operation: (commissioning and maintenance)

Turn each device control knob on the electric control cabinet to the “Manual” position, so that the devices can start working. Now, the devices are not controlled by level and process. If each device control knob is turned to the “Stop” position, the devices will stop working.This usually shall not be used.

Pre-treatment section

1.      Check all pipes and valves, in order to ensure unblocked water flow.

2.      Check the automatic pretreatment control head display panel to confirm that the time displayed by automatic controller is in line with the local time.

3.      Installation of drainage pipeline:

For the drainage pipeline, the following measures shall be taken:

①    To avoid blockage, the equipment shall be equipped with sewer and grounding trench.

②    The terminal shall be open, in order to prevent siphoning.

4.      Automatic control head

If power outage lasts for more than three days, the time of the controller must be reset. Therefore, if there are no special circumstances, the controller will need no power outages.

5. Electrical connection

The power supply equipped with a safety device shall be required. According to the sign on the RO unit, electric power shall be fed into the main air circuit breaker on the electrical control cabinet of the equipment.



RO section

I.                First start (manual)

1.      Firstly, open all the pressure regulating valves in the membrane.

2.      Open the concentrated water regulating valve.

3.      Open the raw water source valve.

4.      Start the power supply of the unit.

5.      Start the inlet solenoid valve.

6.      When the inlet water pressure gauge rises to 0.2MPa (or reaches the local tap water pressure value), turn the high-pressure pump switch to the “Manual” position.

7.      After the equipment is started, first adjust the concentrated water regulating valve, so that water production capacity can reach the design level (8.5L / H). The system pressureshall not exceed 1.2MPa(at 25℃).

a.   The recovery rate shall be controlled within the specified range.

b.  The water production capacity shall reach the calculated value after being calculated according to the raw water temperature. During the operation, it shall be noted that the function of concentrated water regulating valve is to adjust the recovery rate of RO system, so as to achieve the purpose of adjusting the ratio of pure water to concentrated water; meanwhile, the higher the system pressure, the greater the water production capacity is.(Principle: try to get the maximum water production capacity within the specified pressure limits)

8.      At any time, concentrated water regulating valve shall not be fully closed; otherwise, a sudden increase in system pressure will occur, resulting in damage to equipment or endanger the safety of the operator.

9.      It is recommended that the user should establish equipment running logs. For the details, please refer to the appendixes.

10. The corrosion protection of RO membrane was done at the original factory, so when you first use the equipment, the prepared pure water shall be discharged for at least two hours before collection and utilization.

11. The supply pump is a constant pressure supply pump. In case the unit is provided with electricity and the pure water tank is provided with water, press the power button of the supply pump to open the rear water supply valve to supply water; if the valve is closed, water supply will be stopped in standby mode. (You can always make the supply pump power button turned on)


Automatic operation: (after the first manual adjustment)

Turn the switching knobs of the devices to the “Automatic” position, and then turn on the main power switch, so that the devices can be run automatically. When turned on, the inlet water solenoid valve will be open; after 30 seconds of wash, high-pressure pump will be started automatically, and will be stopped until it is full of water. Quickflush solenoid valveis set to three hours of opening and 30 secondsof quick wash.(Usually, the operator shall control the operation power button, and the remaining switches shall be regularly in automatic mode)

II.               Detection

1.    Inspect that the instrument data of the equipment are within the specification range. In case any unusual circumstances are found, the equipment shall be timely adjusted.

2.    Record the instrument data.

III.            Shutdown

Auto: Switch off the operation power button on the cabinet

1.Inspect that the pressure gauges return to zero;

2.Wipe dry the water stain on the machine, especially on the electrical equipment and devices;

IV.           Maintenance content and equipment troubleshooting

1.The filter element of cartridge filter housing shall be cleaned regularly, once every 5 to 7 days, depending on the raw water situation;

a.        Open the housing to remove the filter element.

b.       Wash the outside of the filter element with high pressure tap water;

c.        Place the filter element in pure water to soak it for 30 minutes and then rinse it off with pure water;

d.       Re-install it;

e.        In case of failure to meet the demand after cleaning, the filter element shall be replaced, once every 40 days in principle.

2.RO membrane

In case pre-treatment is proper, the quality of the water entering the RO membrane meets the requirements, and the use of equipment is in line with correct methods of operation, the life of the membrane shall be up to 3 to 5 years.

But with the formation of scale, bacteria and other contaminants, the water production capacity and water quality of the equipment will be gradually reduced. Now, inspect the equipment according to the following criteria and order:

a. In case the 15%gradual reduction in the water production capacity is not caused by temperature and pressure factors, the RO membrane shall need chemical cleaning;

b. In case the quality of produced water gradually declines beyond the relevant standard (excluding raw water change factor), the...
